Home Page: Introduction

The Bellevue University Library Staff is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace environment for its employees and patrons.  This Libguide describes the procedures and processes for emergency preparedness and disaster recovery methods in the Bellevue University Library. It is recommended that this Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery Planning Libguide be reviewed with all department employees on a regular (at least annual) basis. Most of the material in this guide comes from the Bellevue University Guide to Emergency Preparedness.

The guide is designed to help you during a variety of emergencies.

All staff and student employees in the University Library need to be familiar with the following:

  • Emergency numbers list
  • Fire extinguisher use and locations
  • Location of recovery supplies
  • Telephone tree
  • Evacuation procedures

A disaster in a library may occur at any time. For this reason, it is necessary for the Bellevue University Library to have a plan which will describe what to do in a particular emergency, whom to contact, and how to recover from that disaster.
