There are many different theories regarding how people learn and retain information and skills. Theories of learning include classical and operant conditioning, social learning theory, experiential learning theory, etc. Memory is closely related to learning, but it is a complicated process which is often studied as a separate concept. Definitions of both learning and memory vary.
