"Traditional African Religions" refers to a variety of religious traditions which originate from the continent of Africa. These traditions are numerous and diverse, though they may share certain characteristics and worldviews. Indigenous African religions were present long before the introduction of Christianity and Islam to the continent, though now these different religions have in some ways influenced each other in regards to their practice in Africa. Therefore, some sources may discuss these religions together. Outside of Africa, Traditional African Religions are also commonly practiced in the Americas and the Caribbean Islands.
