Librarians are....

Would you want to ask Mr. Dewey, the librarian at the Pagemaster Library, a reference question?

Librarians in the media often appear as strict, stern, or old-fashioned rule keepers who guard the information within the stacks. We are so used to seeing librarians portrayed this way that most people won’t even notice when you see the next on-screen appearance of a scary librarian.

We librarians hope that you know we are deeply committed to helping you get your hands on information instead of guarding it like a scary gremlin.

Taking into account the increasing importance of being able to navigate an ever-changing world of information to find the information you need, these negative librarian portrayals can be very unhelpful. While, sadly, some people have encountered unfriendly librarians in real life, librarians are just people, like you, and most of us are quite friendly and helpful. Really!

Bad Librarians

You won't ever encounter this kind of librarian at the Freeman/Lozier Library.

Also, even though you've probably figured this out already, the shusher doesn't work in our library either.
