How to Find Company and Industry Information

This guide will assist you in locating company and industry information using library resources.

What is Gale Business Insights Global and how to i find it?

Gale Business Insights:Global provides detailed company and industry profiles including SWOT reports, market share reports, and financial reports, as wll as thousands of company histories case studies, scholarly journals, and company news.

It can be accessed from the Databases page under Find on the library homepage. You will be prompted for your BU Connect login.

Using Gale Business Insights:Global

Company Reports. Enter a company name or ticker symbol into the search box at the top of the page. Click on the company when the results come up to locate the full report, The business description and key information, is visible; links in the left column and provide other information, such as company history, a company chronology, financials, investment reports SWOT Analysis, market share reports, case studies, as well as links to journal and news articles about the company. Not all options are available for all companies.

Company Finder.  Select this from the drop down menu of the Companies tab to create a company list based on criteria you select. Options are location, SIC or NAICS code,, revenue, number and of employees; A list of  companies meeting that criteria will be generated. Each company name is linked  to either the Gale company report or the company website.

Other choices in the drop down menu of the Companies tab are Company Histories, SWOT Reports, Investment Reports, and Financial Reports. A  complete list of all reports available will come up; type the name of a company into the "Search within Results" box - using the official name works best

Create comparison charts by clicking on Comparison Charts in the navigation bar, then select Companies. You will be prompted to add a company by typing the name in the search box that appears. Revenue metrics will be displayed in a line chart. Hover over various points on the line to see the exact figures for that year.. A few other types of metrics can now be selected and will be displayed in a bar chart. You also have the option to display any chart as a table.,Charts and tables can be printed or shared via email or social media

Click on the Case Studies tab in the bar above. All available case studies will be displayed. To find a specific company, type the company name in the Search Within Results box to the left of the results. All the case studies for that company will be displayed. If needed, there are other options on the left to further narrow the list down. Those results that appear at the top of the list will be most relevant .
