A Medical Hardship/Compassionate Withdrawal request, when granted, allows students to receive financial reimbursement and/or receive a grade change (when applicable) for courses interrupted by a severe illness or injury, or a serious personal situation.
Yes, you may only request withdrawal from classes within one term.
Medical Hardship/Compassionate Withdrawal requests must be made within a year of the term for which the withdrawal is being requested.
Grade changes will only be given if a grade of an “F” has been earned. The “F” grade is replaced with “W” to show a Withdrawal.
In most cases, a request will only be considered for complete withdrawal. Applications for less than a complete withdrawal must be especially well documented to justify the selective nature of the partial request.
More information is available in the Student Handbook. Students may also consult with their academic advisor and/or Disability Services.
For details regarding the financial impact of a withdrawal, please contact Student Financial Services, at 402-557-7326. If financial assistance is received, students are strongly encouraged to consult with Student Financial Services to identify and understand the financial assistance/monetary implications of processing this withdrawal transaction. Please note that TITLE IV fund recipients who withdraw from all their classes during their period of enrollment may be subject to federal government refund and repayment requirements. The TITLE IV funds subject to these regulations are Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal PLUS Loans.
When a student officially withdraws from all classes for the term, the Financial Aid Office will perform three steps in calculating how much of a student's federal financial aid must be returned to the U.S. Department of Education or a student loan lender. This process has nothing to do with the Institutional Refund Policy that may be in affect at the time of the student's withdrawal. For more information regarding refunds and repayments, please refer to the following website http://www.bellevue.edu/financial-services/refunds.aspx#pageTop
