(University of Southern California) Voluntary informed consent, a prerequisite for participation in research, is a process and a document. The informed consent process is about the protection and respect for research subjects. The consent process varies according to the level of review and nature of the research.

(FDA.gov) To many, the term informed consent is mistakenly viewed as the same as getting a research participant's signature on the consent form. FDA believes that obtaining a research participant's verbal or written informed consent is only part of the process.

(HHS.gov) The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) provides leadership in the protection of the rights, welfare, and wellbeing of human subjects involved in research conducted or supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). OHRP is part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in the Office of the Secretary of HHS.

(University of Washington) The goal of the results section in an empirical paper is to report the results of the data analysis used to test a hypothesis.

(BryanBurnham.net) The Results section of an empirical manuscript (APA or non-APA format) are used to report the quantitative results of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics that were applied to a set of data.
