Turnitin to Something Useful
Are you interested in “the most innovative and effective online technology for evaluating student learning?” Perhaps you have heard about Turnitin, but have not taken the time to try it. This feature will inform you of some of the helpful tools that are available to you with your Turnitin account.
As you probably already know, Turnitin is a plagiarism checker website. But, what you may not know is that it is the global leader in higher education. According to the Turnitin site, “more than 3,500 higher educational institutions use Turnitin, including 69% of the top 100 colleges and universities in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges list.” What more reason do you need to know than this?!
Well, another thing that you may not know is that Turnitin is a cloud-based educational tool. This means that students and instructors can submit papers directly from Google Drive or DropBox! This allows instructors to check their student’s assignments more conveniently by permitting them to post a comment, leave a voice comment, and use rubrics for grading - all from the app! In addition to being cloud-based, two other new features include PowerPoint file submissions and being LTI-Compliant. Other resources available to Turnitin users include: webcasts, white papers, research papers, product demos, and multiple tutorials for both instructor and student training. All of these resources are very beneficial should you need further instruction.
